The white eyes signify blind eyes.Races aren't really 'classes'. They're races. Everyone is able to use magic, it's not limited to certain races. There is nothing that stops a Breton from being a thief or a warrior, or a Nord from being a mage or a thief. I don't really see there a problem with things being similar at the start - with a system like the Major skills of Oblivion, if you regretted your chosen skills you'd be out of luck because you needed to raise them to level them up.

Don't really run into that problem with Skyrim, and you grow into your chosen skills and role rather than choosing them before you've even had a chance to try them out. Still, choosing a few major skills so that they advance faster would be nice - but not by preventing level-ups from non-major skills, a nice middle ground that'd be.
Skyrim Enchanting Leveling
You start as someone that's pretty bad at everything and over time become good at something.I have a love-hate relationship with increasing skills by use, too. In Fallout, you have more control over your character, but in TES if you use magic too much you level up magic skills even if you weren't really planning on using them. (Also, the value alchemy goes up by depends on the value of the potion created.)With the Legendary Skill system, skills being at 100 really doesn't matter - you can reset them. Also, 'I always play Skyrim the same way' and 'Every character feels interchangeable'. Just pointing that out.If you like Skyrim, I think you should give Morrowind and Oblivion a try.Still, Alchemy still sucks pretty much. If you're going to be using a crafting skill, you might as well go for Smithing or Enchanting, both of which are far more useful. Daedric Armour or a Sword of Paralysis. Or a potion of health that you can only use once?
Why would you ever choose alchemy over the other two?And honestly I think there are more ways to play Skyrim than there are for Fallout. I mean, Fallout doesn't really have things like Conjuration or Illusion magic, both of which can get quite powerful with the right boosts.
