When playing the Engine of Destruction mission on brutal, I decided to try to bottle the Odin up to give me some time to build up my forces. However, when I attempted to block the path, the Odin always just walked over whatever units and/or buildings I stuck in its path. I cannot describe how to generate this bug, since I have been unable to create a scenario in which it does not occur. I do, however, assume that this is not WAD, since both some people online suggest this strategy and one of my friends has made use of it. To help illustrate the problem, I have taken some series of screenshots and assembled them into animated gifs, as I feel that these make the absurdity of the scenario more clear than still images. If any further information would be beneficial to locating the source of the problem, I would be happy to provide it. Blocking the Odin in doesn't mean getting him to stop, it means taking hits for him.

If at any point past the first base on brutal you leave him alone, he will die when encountering enemies. But yeah - this is not a bug. It's supposed to be a mission where you have to keep up with him. Trying to circumvent mission constraints is, well, if not cheating, exploiting. You really want to do it that way? Why not just use cheat codes?

It's possible on Brutal. Quite easily so.

Just keep trying, get creative, and if you need to, do other missions first so you have more units available. Just as a note: From: 'An easy way to beat this level after destroying the first base is to block off the Odin's path with a series of supply depots or building of your choice. Having a siege tank/infantry squad defend the blockade on the eastern exit will ensure the squads that the AI sends your way are dispatched easily.

The Odin will get stuck and walk around until you decide to lower the supply depots or they are destroyed, and will then proceed as normal. This will buy you as much time as you require to get the army you need to escort the Odin. You can even go off and destroy the bases without the Odin's help, if you are so inclined.'

Either they are confused, something changed in a patch, someone has a bug, or the Odin can be blocked only in certain places. You are able to block the odin with 4 supply depots. I would not suggest this though, because it can get very hectic very quickly. The map is easy on normal/casual, but when it gets to hard/brutal, it gets VERY difficult very quickly. They set it up so if he does get bottle, it will get increasingly difficult to protect your base and him. Waves start spawning from the first base.

Then after about 3-5 minutes waves of hellions/diamondbacks come from the second base, and then waves from the third base. If you have science vessels, I'd suggest not bottling him in. Also, blocking him will probably be fixed soon. (Btw, you block him in by placing the supply depots right outside the doorway). Related bug: Playing on brutal, walled in at first base If you hold him back for a while (even a short amount of time) he doesn't seem to have enough time to destroy the base.

I let him go after I'd built a couple tanks and vikings; His second resting speech is triggered, and he walks through the second base while ignoring everything that's left. Basically he lets everything kill him while he walks to the end of the second base. It would seem the trigger for his break is not dependent on the base being destroyed.
